Totally Different Kid

OMG I got a hug from my son today. He. Initiated. It. Last night after I completed the whole protocol for the first time. Coincidence?? Doubtful.

OMG! I’m in speech therapy with Chance.

TOTALLY DIFFERENT KID!!!!

Ok…my son had the attention span of a flea…literally. Today he sat with Catherine Coleman, engaged, kept eye contact and even started a conversation (via sign language) which she brilliantly ran with and wove speech and cognition into. He answered questions, followed directions, all while he was exhausted (apnea). He had impulse control than I’ve ever seen before. Then the speech…really coming along. He has severe apraxia and is now saying the first and last sound of a word I.e. P _ G not just “p” like we’ve heard for years. And the “words” are coming unprompted!!

Then at home the miracles continued! He woke up from his nap a cuddly, affectionate little boy that wanted his mama. He cuddled with me. AHHHHHHH!!!!! Before he was very independent and elusive.

And all of this comes one day after I completed my third round of the whole protocol. Soooo happy!

Update: October 22, 2016

I’m not sure what I saw tonight. Am I seeing things? Making things up??

My son was always in his own world stimming. Today he was in the bath and I started singing a silly, made up song that would cause him to follow directions. And honestly I did it to entertain myself because I’m exhausted but needed to stay awake. I’m very used to being ignored by him..especially at bath time. The song…

When I suddenly realized he was NOT facing me but facing the wall of the shower and DOING EVERYTHING I SAID. Huh!?! Auditory processing??

When I stopped he signed “again”. He wanted more!

Then I start cleaning something and he was playing with his toys with a little more purpose than usual. He loves to make animals talk to each other. (Thank you Catherine Coleman) I said “Hello Mr Duck, I’m Mr Dinosaur.” Again, NOT looking at me he pauses to “think/process” then chooses the duck and dinosaur from his pile of bath toys.

Then, as I’m talking In different voices for each one HE MOVED THE CORRECT ONE ACCORDING TO MY VOICE (high pitched for the duck, deep for the dinosaur)

THEN I asked for a hug right before bed and he gave me one with no hesitation (a very quick one).

Where am I?

Update: December 1, 2016

I’m seeing so many wonderful changes 3 months into the laser and I keep saying I’ll write tomorrow…but it keeps getting pushed back. I’m using the laser on myself and detoxing a lot so I feel rotten. But my boy, Chance, is amazing me. More unprompted speech, less aggression, he cuddles with me at night (yes Andi Durkin!!!) when he used to sit clear across the bed as far away as possible. Now he’s right next to me, head on my shoulder even! My husband and I were on our bed with Chance and he suddenly gave my husband a kiss then turned to me and gave me his cheek so I could kiss him. WOW!

He’s showing pride in his work from school. I showed a friend a turkey he made at school and he had a huge smile of pride and recognition on his face (which was enough of a big deal). Then…he took it out of my hand and handed it to her as if saying, “Look what I did!!” I have NEVER seen him do anything like that before.
I kid you not; I went into the kitchen sobbing tears of joy. He’s IN THERE. He’s REALLY in there!

Update: December 7, 2016

I am Chance’s private Speech Pathologist. I have been using the PROMPT program with Chance along with visual cues. He has shown a big jump over the last few months since the laser treatments have been started. He is now able to demonstrate improved jaw and tongue control with improved productions of consonant vowel, vowel consonant and cons-vowel-cons productions. He also is showing improvements in movements requiring protrusion, rounding and retraction with lip and tongue control. Additionally, he is producing longer signed utterances demonstrating a jump in expressive language.

Success Story: Quantum Reflex Integration After Several Strokes

After suffering several strokes, I was left with many deficits. I was fortunate to receive Quantum Reflex Integration sessions to help gain back my independence and basic functions. My sessions included the QRI reflex integration program, the QRI Harmonic Helmet, Moro magnets, TALK, THINK, MOVE protocols and the Cranial Nerves/Brain Balance program. I received several intense sessions that improved my dementia, movement, fine and gross motor skills, my sight improved which allowed me to read again, digestion improved, severe constant headaches relieved, and gave me hope for the future which reduced my depression.

The Move program helped me gain better mobility. As an 83 year old woman, my muscles were tight and my mobility was limited. I had difficulty stopping when walking. After a QRI session, then followed by the MOVE program, I was able to bend down and almost touch my toes. My beginning range was just at my knees. My joints felt looser and I was able to walk and move with less tension and stop without hitting a wall. I also noticed that I felt calmer and was more at peace. The Quantum Reflex Integration Harmonic Laser and QRI program has truly improved the quality of my life after several strokes. I’m grateful for all the changes I’ve experienced that I never dreamed I would.

Success Story for Cerebral Palsy

Haley Age 26 months. Initial Evaluation: 9-01-15 at 23 months.

DX: Right Hemiplegia, Cerebral Palsy, Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, Epilepsy

Initial evaluation: Haley had minimal active movement in her right upper extremity, her arm just hung in place. She was unable to raise her right arm at all as in a “high five” movement. If an item was placed in her right hand, she would attempt to grasp it but was unable to maintain a sustained grasp for anything over about a second. She had total neglect of the right side. She was also blind in right eye and vision was low in left eye. She had limited verbal skills – maybe 15 single words. She wore a right AFO and has significant foot drop. Feeding: Client stuffed her mouth and required direct line of sight for eating. She was able to drink from a certain sippie cup independently and can take single sips thick liquids open cup with an adult holding the cup and monitoring the liquid flow. Noticed patient lose liquids anteriorly with thin liquids open cup. Extreme tactile defensiveness and sensory processing disorder. Unable to self-soothe and did not sleep through the night. She presented with fluctuating muscle tone, decreased strength, decreased coordination and was easily frustrated. She was unable to get herself into a standing position independently due to the right sided hemiplegia.

Began QRI protocol in October 2015. In 4 short months, she is able to do the following;

Raise right arm in a “high five”
Open right hand and grasp easy to hold on to plush toys, maintain a grasp for about 2 seconds and intentionally release the object.
Neglect of right side improving as noted by her calling her right hand / arm “righty” and looking at it as she said the name.
Visual scanning slightly improved as evidenced by her tracking a slowly moving object across midline while maintaining a visual lock on the object, tracking is not smooth
Verbal skills have increased to two word sentences, almost on age level
Stuffs mouth during feeding less, overall feeding and drinking skills have improved, continues to require direct line of sight for monitoring of mouth stuffing
Can now drink from several types of sippie cups, one straw, can now blow and take single sips thin liquid no anterior liquid loss
Tactile defensiveness and sensory processing have improved, parent is extremely proactive in helping with this area
Sleeping through most nights
Coordination has improved, she is able to reach across her body with minimum assistance to reach for toys and get on toys with minimum assistance or stand by assistance
Frustration tolerance is improving slightly. I took two weeks off over the Christmas holidays and noted a significant regression in above skills, most noticeable was the regression in motor skills. Her body reverted back to minimal use of her right extremity, and she had no interest in using her right arm -and verbalized that also.

She requests the laser be placed in certain spots on her body – especially her back. I continue to look forward to seeing this little girl progress, it is quite exciting.

Haley has made EVERYONE cry happy tears this week. She’s CRAWLING!!! None of us expected her to bare weight on her right arm this soon, much less push her chest off the ground, then coordinate her legs and arms for forward motion. Totally 100% God working through all her therapies! Tears fill our eyes every. single. time! We really cannot express how HUGE of a deal this is!

This event left him unable to speak and communicate well. His speech was very hard to understand when he talked, so he did not talk much. He has been in speech therapy for two years with little progress. I started integrating his reflexes with the QRI program in July. Last August, I purchased the QRI TALK packet from Bonnie. Within one session of QRI and the TALK package, it was evident to his mother and myself that a huge change had been made. After the second session, we noticed more major changes in his speech and this time the changes were evident to other people around him.
